INTERSOLAR and looking ahead to 2020 - Q&A with Tigo

Q&A with | Tigo

Tigo will not have a booth at Intersolar North America, but our Sales Team will be available for meetings – email sales@tigoenergy.com. You can also visit our partners at the CPS America & Krannich booths.

Tell us about your company.

Tigo® is a Silicon Valley company founded in 2007 by a team of experienced technologists. Combining a unique systems-level approach with expertise in semiconductors, power electronics, and solar energy, the Tigo team developed the first-generation Smart Module Optimizer technology for the solar industry. Tigo's vision is to leverage integrated and retrofitted Flex MLPE (module-level power electronics) and communications technology to drive the cost of solar electricity down. By partnering with tier 1 module and inverter manufacturers in the industry, Tigo is able to focus on its key innovation with the smartest TS4 modular platform and leverage the broader ecosystem. Tigo has operations in the USA, across Europe, Japan, China, Australia and the Middle East.

What is it that makes this an important event for your company?

We’re interested to see how the San Diego audience compares to the San Francisco audience for the newly relocated Intersolar North America. Like other solar events, this is provides a time and place to reconnect face-to-face with our partners and customers in the beginning of what is already proving to be a very busy year.

Intersolar has many educational sessions, forums & Demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

Not this year – however Tigo is part of Solar Comedy Slam’s judging team on Wednesday night! Contact us for a free ticket.

What are you projecting for 2020? Do you see more growth or turmoil ahead for solar and the economy?

We see outstanding growth for the North American solar marketing in 2020. Between rapid shutdown regulations of NEC 2017 coming into effect; module-level monitoring becoming an obvious ROI tool; and the realization that MLPE’s optimization provides proof of reclaimed power, Tigo is very excited for a big year!

Do you think the solar industry is in a good position to grow through what may be a bumpy next few years?

Absolutely! The US solar industry is a resilient market that will continue to grow for residential and C&I when it has so many active players. Manufacturers, EPC’s, installers, advocates, and other groups are making major headway to make sure safety requirements, renewable energy policies, job growth, access to data, etc. continue to be viable.
