Ecotech Institute's President to Join Forum on the Future of Energy at Colorado Energy Expo
Event gathers education and industry leaders to discuss energy innovation and the economic implications for Colorado
Denver, Colo. - May 8, 2015 - On Wednesday, May 13, high school students across Colorado will have the opportunity to learn about the future of the energy industry and potential energy careers. Its all part of Colorado Energy Expos new "Student Career Development Forum". Chris Gorrie, Ecotech Institutes school president will take part in the forum on "Identifying Pathways toward Energy Careers". Two sessions will be held to discuss this topic. Other energy and education leaders joining Chris will include:
* Jim Marchiori, Executive Director, University of Colorado Global Energy Management Program (Moderator)
* Lin Sherman, Career Center Assistant Director and Director of Recruitment, Colorado School of Mines
* Rich Thatcher, Lead Faculty, Red Rocks Community College
This forum will give students an opportunity to learn how they can get plugged into exciting careers in energy, with the first session starting at 8:15 a.m., followed by a second session at 9:15 a.m.. The Exhibit Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. where students can then meet with representatives from energy companies. The overall expo is expected to host between 3,000-5,000 attendees.
"Many high school students are still unsure what they want to do and what career path to pursue and the energy space is one that is growing. So this forum will be a great opportunity for students to ask questions and for us all to discuss the great role of energy in Colorado," said Chris Gorrie, Ecotech Institutes president.
