What is ElectriPlast and how is it used in batteries?
ElectriPlast is a conductive plastic. By utilizing Long Fiber Technology(LFT) we are able to achieve high levels of electrical conductivity. In several lead acid battery technologies, such as bipolar, flow, lead/carbon, our material can be used as the electrode (plate).
Why did Integral Technologies develop a lead acid bipolar battery when lithium is all the rage?
Lithium is a viable technology and one that is sure to have a big place in the market but we feel that improving current lead/acid technology makes sense from several points. Lead-acid is currently the most widely used and accepted battery technology, materials to manufacture lead-acid are in great supply, quicker adoption from industry.
When will the final 12v lead acid bipolar battery with ElectriPlast plates be in active use?
The battery displayed at the battery show was our first fully functional battery, we are currently working with and in discussions with existing battery manufacturers to expedite full commercialization.
What sectors are most interested?
Transportation, grid storage, electric bikes/motorcycles, wheelchairs
Is this technology cheaper or more expensive than traditional battery technology?
Fully optimized, this technology is less expensive.
What are the major advantages for end users?
By fully optimizing the lead acid bipolar technology, power density is dramatically improved. This allows for smaller batteries. Specific advantages – moldable, this allows for a battery to be made is essentially any shape. Lighter – utilizing bipolar technology, the size of the battery can be reduced 25-50%, Lead – use of lead is greatly reduced or eliminated.
Who at Integral is responsible for this technological/engineering development?
Our Tech Center in Canton, MI
- Slobodan Pavlovic – VP of Engineering
- Mo Zeidan – CTO
