NREL to Host Global Forum on Bioenergy

More than 400 scientists, engineers, industrial leaders, and policy makers are expected to gather for formal presentations, poster sessions and informal discussions about the state-of-the-art technology for producing our consumer and industrial energy needs from sustainable plant and plant-derived materials rather than fossil fuels.

What: The 25th Annual Symposium on Biotechnology for Fuels and

Chemicals. This international conference over the years has become the
principal forum for researchers to learn about the latest biotechnology
research and development for making fuels and chemicals from biomass.

More than 400 scientists, engineers,
industrial leaders, and policy makers are expected to gather for formal
presentations, poster sessions and informal discussions about the
state-of-the-art technology for producing our consumer and industrial energy
needs from sustainable plant and plant-derived materials rather than fossil
fuels.

When: May 4-7, 2003

Where: Breckenridge, Colorado's Beaver Run Resort

Sponsors: These symposia are alternately hosted by the two U.S.
Department of Energy national laboratories most active in this vital
research arena, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Oak
Ridge National Laboratory.

NREL is a national laboratory managed by
Midwest Research Institute, Battelle, and Bechtel. In addition to its work
on biotechnology for fuels and chemicals, the lab is a leading center for
research into photovoltaics, wind energy, energy-efficient buildings,
advanced vehicle design and hydrogen fuel cells.
