seebaWIND changes the gearbox on an MM92 turbine for the first time
Osnabrück. The manufacturer-independent service provider seebaWIND Service GmbH replaced a gearbox using a tried and tested special construction in only three days. seebaWIND specialists replaced the gearbox of a Senvion MM92 wind turbine for the first time at the Waldhausen wind farm near Würzburg. It was the first gearbox change on this turbine type and was carried out by a manufacturer-independent service company.
The service staff of seebaWIND Service used a special bridge construction to carry out a rapid and efficient gearbox change on the Senvion MM92 turbine. The construction fixed the main shaft on the engine pod and stabilised the main rotor. They were then able to fit the new gearbox without having to remove the rotor. Due to its running time, the old gearbox on the wind turbine had suffered irreparable damage which was impossible to repair at the top of the wind turbine.
Customised engineering for MM92 turbines
seebaWIND experts previously built a customised bridge for the turbine type to change the gearbox. "The gearbox bridge for the MM92 had to be designed, calculated and built in advance," explained Christian Klöckner, Head of Service at seebaWIND Service. By applying the special technique of the gearbox bridge, he and his team were able to master all the logistical challenges in advance and save considerable costs by using a smaller crane. Peter Symmank, Technical Operations Head at CSO Energy GmbH was also in agreement: "Through excellent collaboration with seebaWIND Service, we were able to ensure that everything went smoothly and we reduced the length of time needed for use of a crane which is very cost-intensive." Above all he praised the commitment and reliability of the independent service producer.
